There was a time in Kerala when the BJP struggled even to find candidates. A time when you could count all the party’s contestants on your fingers. Standing with the Lotus symbol once meant standing alone—isolated in a political space dominated by traditional power blocs.

But today, Kerala tells a very different story.

For the first time in the state’s political history, the BJP has entered the local body elections with 21,065 candidates. Out of them, an impressive 19,871 candidates are proudly contesting under the Lotus symbol. This surge reflects a remarkable expansion of the party’s grassroots presence and organizational strength.

The BJP views this moment not just as another election, but as a sign of a growing public movement. Rising participation from youth, increased volunteer activity, and expanding local leadership networks have contributed to this historic candidate count. It represents a shift in Kerala’s political sentiment, where voters are increasingly exploring alternatives to long-standing narratives and governance patterns.

While political experts will continue to debate the long-term impact, this significant rise in candidates clearly indicates a changing political landscape in Kerala. The transformation has begun, and its influence on future elections will be closely watched.
