నందమూరి బాలకృష్ణ ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ అసెంబ్లీలో చేసిన వ్యాఖ్యలతో సినీ పరిశ్రమలో, రాజకీయ వర్గాల్లో చర్చలు చెలరేగిన నేపథ్యంలో మెగాస్టార్ చిరంజీవి తన మౌనం వీడి స్పందించారు. విదేశాల్లో ఉండగానే ఆయన ఒక ప్రెస్ నోట్ విడుదల చేసి, ఆ సమయంలో నిజంగా ఏం జరిగిందో వివరించారు.
చిరంజీవి తెలిపినదాని ప్రకారం—పలు సార్లు నటులు, నిర్మాతలు, దర్శకులు సమస్యలతో తనను సంప్రదించడంతో, ఆయనే ముందుకు వచ్చి ప్రభుత్వంతో మధ్యవర్తిత్వం చేయాలని నిర్ణయించుకున్నారని అన్నారు. అప్పుడు మంత్రి పెర్ని నాని నేరుగా ముఖ్యమంత్రి కార్యాలయంతో తనను కలిపారని, అక్కడి నుంచి లంచ్ ఆహ్వానం రావడంతో జగన్‌తో భేటీ అయ్యారని గుర్తు చేశారు. ఆ సందర్భంలో చిత్ర పరిశ్రమ ఎదుర్కొంటున్న ఇబ్బందులు, ముఖ్యంగా భారీ బడ్జెట్ సినిమాలు మరియు తక్కువ టికెట్ ధరల మధ్య వస్తున్న అంతరాలు గురించి సీఎం ఎదుట తన ఆవేదన వ్యక్తం చేశారని వివరించారు.
అలాగే ఆ సమయంలో సినీ ప్రతినిధి బృందం ఏర్పాటవుతుండగా బాలకృష్ణను వ్యక్తిగతంగా కలవడానికి తన వంతు ప్రయత్నం చేశానని చిరంజీవి చెప్పారు. నిర్మాత జెమినీ కిరణ్ ద్వారా కూడా ప్రయత్నించానని కానీ బాలకృష్ణను సంప్రదించడం సాధ్యపడలేదని తెలిపారు. చివరికి ఆ బృందంతో కలిసి ఆర్. నారాయణమూర్తి మరియు మరికొందరిని తీసుకొని ప్రత్యేక విమానం ద్వారా జగన్‌తో భేటీకి వెళ్లినట్లు వివరించారు.
తన ప్రయత్నాల ఫలితంగానే ప్రభుత్వం టికెట్ ధరల పెంపుకు అనుమతి ఇచ్చిందని చిరంజీవి గుర్తు చేశారు. ఈ నిర్ణయం నిర్మాతలకు, డిస్ట్రిబ్యూటర్లకు, ఎగ్జిబిటర్లకు లాభం చేకూర్చడమే కాకుండా వాల్టేయర్ వీరయ్య, వీరసింహా రెడ్డి వంటి భారీ సినిమాలకు కూడా మంచి కలెక్షన్లు రావడానికి తోడ్పడిందని అన్నారు.
తనపై వచ్చిన ఆరోపణలను తోసిపుచ్చుతూ చిరంజీవి—ఇది రాజకీయ ప్రయోజనం కోసం కాదు, వ్యక్తిగత స్వార్థం కోసం కాదు, పూర్తిగా తెలుగు సినిమా పరిశ్రమ భవిష్యత్తు కోసం చేసిన కృషి మాత్రమేనని స్పష్టం చేశారు.

“When Jagan was in power in Andhra Pradesh, some film producers met me. They requested that I speak to the government about the increase in cinema ticket prices. Regarding this, I spoke over the phone with then Cinematography Minister Perni Nani. Nani told me that the Chief Minister wanted to meet me one-to-one. Later, the then government had given him a date saying the chief minister had invited me for lunch.
As per the Chief Minister’s invitation, I went to his residence. During the lunch, I explained the difficulties faced by the film industry to him. I also told the CM that there was a perception that there was a gap between him and the industry, and requested that if given time, we could all come together to meet him.
Though efforts were made to include Balakrishna, it could not be arranged at that time. A flight was organized, and along with R Narayana Murthy and a few others, we went to meet the Chief Minister.
I explained to him the problems being faced by the film industry and requested government support. Everyone present there is a witness to this.
That decision brought some relief to the industry. Films like Veera Simha Reddy and Waltair Veerayya benefited from the increased ticket prices, bringing profits to producers, distributors, and exhibitors.
I always interact in a manner that gives and receives mutual respect.”
