BRS Slams Government After Denial of Permission for Harish Rao’s Public Meeting

Tensions have intensified in Revalli mandal of Wanaparthy district as farmers’ protest against the proposed Gollapalli reservoir project entered its 100th day. The agitation took a political turn after the government abruptly cancelled permissions for a public meeting planned on the 9th of this month by BRS leader T. Harish Rao in support of the protesting farmers.

The sudden withdrawal of permission, despite earlier approval and completion of arrangements, has triggered sharp reactions from the opposition. Former minister and BRS leader Singireddy Niranjan Reddy strongly criticized the move, accusing the government of attempting to suppress dissenting voices in a democratic setup. He termed the decision undemocratic and politically motivated.

Niranjan Reddy made it clear that the party would not back down in the face of restrictions. He announced that the BRS would approach the High Court to seek legal permission for the meeting and ensure that it is conducted as planned. He reiterated that their fight is in support of farmers and their rights.

Highlighting the party’s history, he stated that agitations and legal battles are not new to the BRS, and that Telangana itself was achieved through sustained struggles. Expressing confidence, he asserted that the party would go ahead with Harish Rao’s meeting on the scheduled date, reinforcing their commitment to the farming community.
