It is all known that Telangana Police especially Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar’s determination caught the mastermind behind I-Bomma and Bappam piracy movie sites. The key-accused, Ravi was arrested and is now under remand. His arrest is definitely a huge relaxation for Tollywood as these websites carried the most recently released movies. Even Tollywood biggies like Megastar Chiranjeevi and Nagarjuna met VC Sajjanar and expressed their huge relief. They appreciated and congratulated Sajjanar’s team and stated that Ravi should definitely be punished!

Of late even ace filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma expressed the same thought on his Twitter page. As people are treating him just like Robin Hood, he clearly explained how such people can cause damage to film industry.

His post reads, “ROBIN HOOD RAVI Piracy will never stop. Not because technology is too advanced or policing too weak , but because as long as there are a large number of people to watch a pirated film there will always be Ravis to serve them. Now the funniest thing is Ravi supporters proudly comparing him to Robin Hood as if they discovered some Nobel Prize winning logic. First of all, Robin Hood is not a hero. Going by today’s definitions he’s the world’s first recorded terrorist. He loots and kills the have’s to give to the have not’s and the only crime of the rich is that they are rich. Imagine how depraved one is , to think being financially successful is a crime punishable by theft and murder. It takes tonnes of ignorance to romanticize a criminal as a saint simply because the recipients are getting stolen goods for free And their logic “Movie expensive? Then piracy justified.” “Popcorn overpriced? Then leak film.” “Tickets high? Then steal content.” By that logic, if a BMW is expensive, you should rob the showroom, give all the cars to everyone in the slum, Jewellery expensive ? Rob the shop and distribute for free ..The same logic will apply for all goods This kind of thinking will lead to social collapse leading to anarchy People watch pirated content not because of some moral revolution but mainly because of convenience. For some it could be money saving and for many it is time saving to click a link than go to the theatre Even people from the film industry including me watch pirated content for the same reason If anyone is serious about stopping piracy, there’s only one real solution: Apart from criminalising the supplier they should also criminalise the viewer. Because catching the pirate is difficult because he’s hiding behind secretive digital ghettos. But catching the viewer is easy. Arrest a 100 random people watching pirated content and publicise their names Suddenly all will realise that watching or forwarding a movie link is equivalent to smuggling or recieving stolen goods Fear works. Morality doesn’t.”

Encouraging piracy and watching pirated movies is definitely a crime… So, please watch the movies in the theatres or simply we can wait until they reach OTTs or TVs.
