The approach of Cyclone Montha over the Bay of Bengal has led to widespread disruption of #train services across Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. Prioritizing passenger safety, Indian Railways has launched precautionary measures, with the South Central Railway (SCR) and East Coast Railway (ECoR) announcing the cancellation of dozens of services. The suspension will be in force from October 27 to 29, as Cyclone Montha is expected to bring heavy rainfall and gale-force winds along the coastal regions.

Officials confirmed that 67 trains under SCR and 43 trains under ECoR have been cancelled due to the impact of Cyclone Montha. The move affects key express, superfast, MEMU, and passenger trains connecting Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. Services operating from major junctions such as Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, and Rajahmundry have been halted. Authorities emphasized that these steps were taken to ensure safety amid adverse weather conditions caused by the advancing Cyclone Montha system.

Major affected trains include the Visakhapatnam–Hyderabad Godavari Express, Visakhapatnam–Delhi AP Superfast Express, Visakhapatnam–Tirupati Double Decker, and Visakhapatnam–Secunderabad Garib Rath, among several other train services. Railway officials have requested passengers to check updates on the official Indian Railways website, mobile app, or by contacting helpline number 139. The full list of cancelled trains has been posted on the Railways’ official X (formerly Twitter) handle for public reference.

The low-pressure system that developed over the Bay of Bengal on October 25 has now intensified into Cyclone Montha, moving closer to the Andhra Pradesh coastline. The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains in Krishna, Eluru, and Vijayawada districts, and winds reaching 60–80 kmph in Rajahmundry and Draksharamam regions. In response, the Andhra Pradesh government and disaster management authorities have been placed on high alert to conduct rescue operations and minimize disruptions to train connectivity and public infrastructure.
